How do I edit/delete an entry after I’ve released it?
At most firms, once an entry has been released from Laurel, it’s not possible to edit or delete it. You’ll need to go directly to your firm’s practice management system (PMS) to make changes to it.
A small number of Laurel customers are able to edit entries after they've been released. This feature is currently only available to firms that use Aderant as their PMS.
How do I see time billed to a specific matter (project, initiative) or to a particular client for a week/month?
You can do this in Time Control.

Next, select "Time Control" from the options that appear at left. In Time Control, you can filter time entries by matter (project, initiative), client, and date.
How do I merge time entries?
Please follow these steps to merge two entries:
Select the entries you want to merge by checking the box to the left of each of them.
When you select at least two, the Action Bar will appear above them.
Find the "Merge" button in the Action Bar, which looks like two arrows pointing to each other.
Click the "Merge" button, and the entries will merge.
Please note that you can only merge two entries that have the same matter/project/initiative.

How do I see my daily, weekly, or monthly billable and non-billable hours?
To see the billable and non-billable hours you’ve accrued over the current day or week, hover over the numbers under your Week view or Day view in the Timesheet Header.
To see the billable and non-billable hours you’ve accrued for a month, click on Calendar on the lefthand side of the Laurel Web App.
Why does my Timesheet always default to a random date?
You might have that date bookmarked. Edit the URL of the Laurel Web App so that it reads as app.laurel.ai, with nothing after “ai”, and then bookmark that URL. When you access this URL via the bookmark, the Laurel Web App will always default to the current date.
What do the green and yellow circles mean on my Calendar?
The green and yellow circles on your Calendar signal released versus unreleased time. If you see a dotted yellow circle around one of the days on your Calendar, that means you have unreleased entries for that day. Please navigate to that day, finalize your entries, and release that time.
If you see a green circle around the days on your Calendar, that means you’ve fully released your prepared entries for that day. No further action required from you.
If you don’t see any circle around a day on your Calendar, that means you do not have any entries prepared for that day.
An open white circle denotes the current day, and a closed white circle denotes the day you've navigated to on your Timesheet. If you have navigated to the current day, it will appear as a closed white circle.
Does Laurel have a mobile app?
Laurel is mobile responsive, which means you can access the Laurel Web App through the browser on your mobile device. There is no separate Laurel app to download.
Please note that only some work activities will be collected when you’re working on your mobile device. For the best possible activity capture, we recommend using the Laurel Desktop Assistant on your desktop computer.
I created a temporary matter (project, initiative) but now need to move those entries to the permanent matter (project, initiative). How do I do that?
You can move these entries to their permanent matter (project, initiative) by following these steps:
Click on the entry you want to reassign to a permanent matter (project, initiative).
You’ll see the gray Action Bar appear above the entry. In it, there will be an “Assign” button, which looks like a folder with an arrow on it. Click the "Assign" button.
When you’ve clicked the “Assign” button, you’ll see the Assign Matter (project, initiative) modal pop up. From there, you can select the permanent matter (project, initiative) for the entry from the drop-down. You can also search for a matter (project, initiative) by typing its name in the Matter field.
Once you’ve selected the permanent matter (project, initiative), click “Save,” and the entry will be reassigned to that matter.
I can't find a matter (project, initiative) in Laurel. What should I do?
Please contact the billing administrator at your firm and verify the following:
The matter (project/initiative) is open in your firm's PMS.
The matter (project/initiative) has been open for at least 24 hours.
You are approved to bill time to the matter (project/initiative).
If the matter (project/initiative) is open and you are approved to bill to it, please double-check that you're using the right terms/numbers to search for the matter (project, initiative).
How do I delete a temporary matter (project, initiative)?
You cannot delete a temporary matter (project, initiative). Over time, it will stop appearing at the top of your list of matters (projects, initiatives) in the Edit Entry modal. It will also disappear from your Recent Matters (projects, initiatives) list.
I’m going on leave and need to release some time in the future. How do I do that?
Not all firms allow timekeepers to bill to future dates.
If your firm does, you can bill to future dates by selecting Create Entry on your timesheet and then clicking the “Change Date” button in the upper left of the Create Entry modal. When the calendar drop-down appears, select the date you want to bill on, then go forward with creating your entry.
If you’re planning to use the same entry information for multiple days of leave, you can use the “Save & Duplicate” option on the entry. When you click this, your entry details will duplicate, and you simply need to change the date on the copied entry.
I want the start of the week to be on Monday instead of Sunday (or Sunday instead of Monday). Can I change that?
You can make this change in your Laurel Web App settings. Click on the "Settings" button in the lower left corner of the Laurel Web App; the "Settings" button is a circle that contains your initials. Select "Your Account" from the menu that appears at left.
Navigate to the Laurel Settings tab in Account Settings, then look for the drop-down menu labeled “Week Start Date.” Select the week start date that’s your preference from the drop-down, then click “Save” in the upper right.
I just released my time, but the entries say “Release Pending” instead of “Released.” What did I do wrong?
"Release Pending" is a temporary state that means your data is on its way from Laurel to your firm’s PMS. Entries usually move to “Released” within a few minutes. If they remain in "Release Pending" for more than one hour, please contact Laurel Support.
I do not see my time being tracked in Laurel. Work that I did this morning is not visible in my Work Groups or Work Activity. Why is that?
There are two common reasons this happens:
You're not logged in to the Laurel Desktop Assistant. The Laurel Desktop Assistant captures most of your work activity. If you are not logged into the Laurel Desktop Assistant, you will see very limited activity in your Work Activity panel. Please right-click on the Laurel desktop assistant icon that's pinned to your system tray, select "shut down Laurel," then relaunch the assistant after the shutdown is complete.
You have a filter applied that is masking some of your Work Activity. Please clear all filters in your Work Activity panel, and ensure that your Work Activity preferences are set as follows:
Duration Minimum is set to "10s+."
Open Time is set to "1m+."
I'm was seeing my time tracked this morning, but it stopped tracking this afternoon. Why did it stop?
You're probably not logged in to the Laurel Desktop Assistant. The Laurel Desktop Assistant captures most of your work activity. If you are not logged into the Laurel Desktop Assistant, you will see very limited activity in your Work Activity panel.
To log back into the desktop assistant, please follow these steps:
Right-click on the Laurel desktop assistant icon in your system tray.
Select "shut down Laurel" and wait for the shutdown to complete.
Relaunch the desktop assistant.
If you still do not see activity tracking after taking these steps, please try restarting your computer.
I just finished a Zoom/Teams meeting, but I do not see it in my Work Activity list. Why is that?
Zoom and Teams meetings, as well as phone calls and emails sent from your mobile device, are captured via Laurel's cloud assistants. As a result, this activity can take up to three hours to show up in your Work Activity list (although they usually populate within one hour).
Additionally, if a Zoom/Teams meeting is hosted by an external party -- meaning, someone outside your firm -- it will not be tracked. This is because security measures at other firms interfere with our ability to track these meetings. The best approach for tracking these meetings is to use your calendar activity.
I’m only seeing three-minute emails and Outlook calendar events show up in Laurel. Where is all the rest of my work activity?
This indicates that you're not logged into the Laurel Desktop Assistant and are only getting limited activity capture through the Laurel Cloud Assistants.
The Laurel Desktop Assistant captures most of your work activity. If you are not logged into the Laurel Desktop Assistant, you will see very limited work activity in your Work Activity panel. Please click on the pinned Laurel Desktop Assistant in your system tray on your desktop to log back in.
