Timers are an important tool for many timekeepers. Laurel makes it easy to keep track of the time you've spent on each of your tasks across all of your initiatives.

Starting a Timer

Timers are linked to each of your individual entries. That way, you can account for time spent on multiple tasks across all of your initiatives.

To get started, click the plus sign + on your Timesheet header to add a new entry. Once you add the name of the initiative you're working on, you'll see Start Timer below the billing increment value.

⏲️You can also start a new timer by clicking the timer icon in the Initiative header:

⏲️Or by hovering next to an Initiative in your Recent Projects list:

Stopping a Timer

When you've completed your work, click Stop Timer, and the billing increment will update to reflect the duration of the timer.

The timer duration will appear in your History panel, along with any other work that was automatically collected by Laurel.

If you go back to a task later in your day, you can go back into the entry and click Start again to add additional time.

Timer FAQs

❓ Can I add minutes or seconds to a timer if I forgot to start or stop?

No. To edit the duration of a timer entry, you'll have to make a change to the billing increment itself.

❓If I save and close and entry, will my timer stop running?

No. If a timer is active when you close an entry, it will continue to run. Be sure to click Stop Timer when you complete your work.

❓I already stopped a timer. Can I start it again?

Yes. To start an existing timer again, click into the entry and select Start Timer.
