As you start moving from Time by Ping (TBP) to Laurel, we have provided you with a quick and simple process to transfer your TBP data to Laurel so you have a historical view of your time.

In this article, we outline the steps required to transfer your data, as well as exactly what data will be transferred to Laurel.

🚨 We recommend releasing all of your time in TBP before moving to Laurel.🚨

Starting the Migration Process:

  • Log into Laurel at app.laurel.ai

  • Navigate to the admin console by selecting your initials in the bottom left-hand corner

  • From here, users should look for the "Migrate TBP data" label next to "Your Account"

  • Hovering over the tooltip will reveal a clickable link that will take users to the migration process (shown below)

πŸ“ Before beginning the migration process, Laurel will complete a status check to ensure that the email address used to sign in to Laurel matches the email address used in TBP. This is a crucial step in ensuring that the correct data is migrated over and that there are no issues with the migration process.

Completion of Validation:

Once validation is complete, click the "Start Upgrade" button to begin the migration process. Depending on the amount of data being migrated, the process may take some time to complete.

You will see the migration status, including how many days have successfully migrated, how many days have unsuccessfully migrated, and when the migration is complete.

🚨 Once done, it's recommended that you do not go back and use TBP again.

Ongoing Migration

Once the migration has started, Laurel will migrate data in reverse chronological order, meaning that the most recent data will appear first. As soon as a day is marked as complete, you will see that data within Laurel, and we'll move on to the next.

This is a background process that will take time to complete and will not stop you from using Laurel.

What will be Migrated?

The following timekeeping data will be transferred:

  • All released entries and their underlying activities

  • All unreleased entries and their underlying activities

The following timekeeping data will not be transferred:

  • All unassigned activities

  • All entries that are assigned to pending matters

  • Matter nicknames

  • Client and matter colors

  • Client and matter codes for action, activity, phase, and task

Note: Laurel does not currently support pending matters. Options for users as follows:

  • The firm will create the actual matter and bulk reassign and release that time.

  • The firm will create the actual matter and bulk reassign and migrate to Laurel.

  • Bulk Reassign to any non-pending matter and migrate to Laurel.

  • Or migrate to Laurel and lose all time assigned to pending matters.
