At the top of your Laurel instance, click to open the Work Activity panel.

Laurel automatically tracks everything you work on, from lengthy conferences to quick 20-second email replies. The Work Activity panel organizes all of this collected work, making it easy for you to manage your tasks.

The Work Activity panel has two tabs:

  • Groups: Laurel intelligently groups related activities, presenting you with a few key work groups that can be billed together.

  • All: This tab shows a chronological list of all your activities. You can add both individual activities and work groups to your timesheet as billable entries.

Sorting Work Groups & Viewing Their Associated Activities

There are several ways to sort your Groups to better suit your workflow. To change how your Work Groups are sorted, click the "Sort by" filter at the top of the Work Activity panel.

Each sorting option helps you view your activities in the way that makes the most sense for you:

  • AI Ranking: Sorts Groups based on how confident Laurel is in their accuracy. The highest-ranked groups are the ones the AI is most certain should be billed together.

  • Predicted Project/Matter: Prioritizes Groups where Laurel has made a project or matter prediction, helping you quickly focus on entries with a clear association.

  • Start Time (First to Last): Displays Groups in the order they began, from the earliest to the latest, so you can follow the sequence of your work chronologically.

  • Start Time (Last to First): Reverses the order, showing the most recent Groups first, so you can immediately focus on your latest tasks.

  • Duration (Descending): Organizes Groups by their length, with the longest sessions at the top. This helps you prioritize larger tasks.

  • Duration (Ascending): Lists Groups starting with the shortest sessions, useful if you need to quickly review smaller or brief tasks.

To see each work activity within a group, click the arrow to the right.

📝 Note: We know you do a lot of multitasking. While we aim to capture your activity comprehensively, there may be instances of overlapping work captured throughout your day (for example: emails you write while you're on a call) that need to be reconciled for accurate billing. For activities that are part of the same Work Group, overlapping durations will be reconciled automatically.

We're continuing to build logic that helps total your time intelligently, but keep in mind that you are ultimately the arbiter of your time. You may need to add, remove, or edit activities to accurately represent the work you've performed.

Removing or Deleting Activities From Groups

If Laurel includes an activity in a group that you’d prefer to bill separately or exclude entirely, it’s simple to remove it. Just hover over the activity and click the "X" button to remove it from the group. If you want to delete the activity completely, click the red trashcan icon.

🧑‍🏫 Training Tips for AI Accuracy:

  • Remove Unwanted Activities: Help the AI understand what shouldn’t be included in a Group by removing unnecessary activities. This action aids future learning and improves accuracy.

  • Consistent Use: Regularly add Groups to your entries. This will reinforce the AI's learning process and help it better predict future groupings.

  • Release Work Group Entries: It's important to release the entries from Groups once finalized, allowing the AI to adjust its predictions based on your changes.

Adding Groups to your Timesheet

Any Group can be converted into an entry by selecting the group and clicking the 'Create Entry' button. If you want to combine multiple groups into a single entry, just continue selecting additional groups before clicking "Create Entry."

When you Groups from your Work Activity to your Timesheet, Laurel automatically calculates the billing increment and uses generative AI to draft a narrative for you.

You can delete any Group that you don't want to bill for. Keep in mind, this will remove the Work Group and all its underlying activities, and this action cannot be undone, so proceed with caution.

Adding Groups removes them from the Grouped view, so you can focus on the remaining work groups!

Accepting Initiative Predictions

In addition to grouping work activities, Laurel also predicts the initiative or matter that a work group belongs to. You can click on the plus sign (+) to create an entry in on click.

It's easy to reject suggestions as well by simply clicking the button inside the suggestion chip.

Laurel predicts initiatives for Groups instead of individual activities.

All Tab

The All tab in your Work Activity shows a chronological list of all your tasks. We recommend using Groups for larger tasks and using the All tab to manage any remaining activities.

You'll also see times when Laurel did not capture any online work, marked as "Open Time."

To add activities or Open Time from the All tab to your Timesheet, you have a few options:

  • Select an individual activity and click Create Entry.

  • Use Shift + Select to choose multiple activities at once.

  • Click on an hour (e.g., 8 am) to select all activities that occurred within that hour.

After clicking Create Entry, you'll need to add a project or matter. Once that's added, Laurel will use generative AI to draft a narrative for you automatically.

Search

Use the search option to quickly locate and create entries for specific items in your list.

Filter Your Activities List

Use filters to efficiently manage your list of activities.

Use the unaccounted time filter to remove activities already on your Timesheet, or filter by activity type to only display specific activities.

Adding or Removing Activities from an Existing Entry

To add more items to an existing entry, simply select the activity or group you want to include. The "Add to Entry" button will then appear on the entry, allowing you to easily add it.

When you create an entry from your Work Activity, clicking on the entry will highlight the individual activities that make up the entry on the right. If needed, you can remove activities by clicking the "X," which will automatically update both the time increment and description. Please note, removing an activity from the entry does not delete it—it will remain available in your All tab.
