If your time entry is stuck in a pending state in Laurel, don’t worry—this is a common scenario that can usually be resolved quickly. Below, we’ll explain the two types of pending states, what they mean, and how to address them.
Pending Validation ⏳ (Hourglass Icon)
What It Means
This state indicates that the entry is undergoing validation to ensure it meets the required rules set by your firm’s PMS (Practice Management System). During this time, the entry:
Has not yet been accepted or rejected.
Can still be edited by you.
If one or more validation rules are not met, Laurel will prompt you with an automated message requesting necessary edits.
What to Do
Refresh the Page
Often, a simple page refresh resolves the issue.Edit and Update the Entry (If Required)
If prompted by an error message, make the necessary corrections and save your entry.Reach Out for Help

Pending Release 🕒 (Green Clock Icon)
What It Means
This state indicates that the entry has been successfully validated and released from Laurel but is waiting to be processed by your firm’s PMS.
The entry cannot be edited during this stage.
Depending on your firm’s PMS, it may take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours for the entry to be fully released.
This process will be covered in your Laurel training.

Understanding Validation and Release States

Validation States
⏳ Validation Pending: Entry is undergoing validation. Edits may be required.
✅ Validation Success: Entry has passed validation and is ready for release. Edits are still allowed.
🚫 Validation Failed: Entry did not meet validation rules. Edits are required to proceed.
Release States
Release Pending: Entry has been released from Laurel but is awaiting processing by your firm’s PMS. Edits are not allowed during this stage.
✅ Release Success: Entry has been accepted by the PMS.
🚫 Release Failed: Entry was rejected by the PMS. Edits are required to correct and re-release.
