There are two logins required to access all of Laurel’s features and functions: one login to the Laurel desktop assistant on your computer, and one login to the Laurel web app in your preferred browser. The desktop assistant is essential for activity tracking, so making sure you're logged in correctly prevents gaps in your work activity capture.
What you'll need:
Your firm's SSO credentials.
Laurel desktop assistant installed on your computer (typically installed by your firm's IT department).
Access to a web browser for the Laurel web app.
Step-by-step Instructions
Log into the Laurel desktop assistant
Step 1: Find the Laurel desktop assistant on your computer
Find the Laurel desktop assistant on your computer. You can search for "Laurel" in the Windows search field on your taskbar, or look for the Laurel icon in your system tray (the icon panel in the bottom right corner of your desktop, indicated by a caret symbol ^).
Step 2: Enter your credentials
When the Laurel desktop assistant opens, enter your firm's SSO credentials. These are the same login details your firm provided for accessing other company systems.
Step 3: Verify you're logged in successfully
After logging in, look for these indicators that confirm you're properly connected:
The Laurel icon in your system tray should appear green when actively tracking.
You can hover over the green icon to see exactly what activities are being tracked.
The assistant status indicator within the app should show green, meaning you're logged in and tracking is active.
Step 4: Make the desktop assistant easily accessible
To avoid login issues in the future and ensure proper tracking, drag the Laurel desktop assistant icon from the system tray and pin it to your taskbar. This makes it more visible so you can quickly check that tracking is active (the icon will be green) whenever you're working. It also ensures that the work you’re doing on your desktop is properly tracking.
Access the web app
Step 5: Log in to the Laurel web app
Once logged into the desktop assistant, click "open application" to automatically launch the Laurel web app in your browser. Alternatively, you can navigate directly to app.laurel.ai and log in using your SSO credentials.
Troubleshooting
If you're having trouble with any of these steps:
If you can't find Laurel desktop assistant on your computer: Contact your firm's IT department, as they typically handle the installation. The software should already be installed on your work computer.
If the desktop assistant icon in the web app is yellow instead of green: This means you're logged out and activity tracking has stopped. Click on the desktop assistant in your system tray and log in again using your SSO credentials.
If work activity isn’t being tracked: Check that the desktop assistant icon is green and visible. If it's not green, you need to log back in to the desktop assistant. Click on the desktop assistant in your system tray and log in again using your SSO credentials. Remember, you must be logged into the desktop assistant for all of your work activities to be collected.
If you’re getting logged out of the desktop assistant frequently: Some firms have stricter security restrictions that require more frequent logins. Make it a habit to check the assistant icon color (in your system tray and in the web app) before starting work each day.
If the web app won't load: Try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser temporarily. You can access the web app from any browser at app.laurel.ai.
What happens next
Once you're logged in, the desktop assistant will automatically track your work activities throughout the day. These activities will appear in your Work Activity view in the web app, where you can review, prepare, edit, and release your time entries.
Important reminders:
Your login typically lasts 30 days for both the desktop assistant and web app.
Only the computer with Laurel desktop assistant installed will track your activities.
You can view your timesheet from the web app on any device with a browser.
