We understand that you may need to follow specific guidelines when creating your Timesheet. Laurel helps you to meet these guidelines efficiently by allowing you to apply a billing style to an Initiative.

  1. To apply a billing style to an Initiative

    • Click the button with the three dots in the Initiative header

    • Choose from one of three billing styles

πŸ—‚οΈ Let's take a closer look at the different billing styles available:

Block billing

Merge all entries together to create one entry per Initiative:

  • Click the button with the three dots in the Initiative header

  • Select 'Merge entries by block'

The total duration (raw time) will combine together and be rounded to the nearest billing increment, and the entry summaries will merge and be separated by a semicolon.

πŸ“ Note: To unmerge activities, select the entry and click 'Unmerge' in the top header.

Activity billing

Entries with the same activity type will be merged (i.e. all documents become one entry, all phone calls become one entry, etc):

  • Click the button with the three dots in the Initiative header

  • Select 'Merge entries by activity'

Activity types will merge together, and the total duration for each activity type will be rounded to the nearest billing increment. The entry summaries will also merge together and be separated by a semicolon.

πŸ“ Note: Timers and manually created entries will not be included.

Session billing

Entries are merged if their underlying activities have happened consecutively (without a break of 12 minutes).

  • Click the button with the three dots in the Initiative header

  • Select 'Merge entries by session'

Entries are merged into a single entry for a consecutive work block. Activities that happened after a >12 minute work block will be a separate entry (as shown above). The total duration will combine together and be rounded to the nearest billing increment, and the entry summaries will merge and be separated by a semicolon.

πŸ“ Note: Timers and manually created entries will not be included.
