From organizing your tasks with 'work groups' to precise time tracking with timers, we cover each feature to enhance your experience in Laurel.

✨ Explore these features in more detail through the provided links.

Activity Collection & Organization

  • History Panel:

Made up of two sections: Work Groups and Activities List. We suggest utilizing Work Groups for larger tasks and then referring to your Activity list to manage remaining activities.

  • Laurel intelligently groups the hundreds of activities you work on all day and presents you with just a handful of work groups that should be billed together.

  • Sometimes, Laurel may group an activity that you want to bill for separately or perhaps, not at all. It's easy to remove such an activity from any work group simply by hovering over the activity, then clicking the Ungroup button.

  • Any work group can be converted into a new entry by clicking the Add button. You can also add multiple groupings to a single entry by continuing to click Add on other groups. Work groups can also be added to an existing entry by clicking into the entry to edit it, then hitting the Add button within the work group.

  • The activity list is a chronological record of your tasks. You can easily add individual captured activities to your timesheet by hovering over an item and clicking "+Add". Efficiently manage your activities list with search and filters.

Automation & Auto-Assignment

  • In addition to grouping work activities, Laurel also predicts the initiative or matter that a work group belongs to. You can click on the suggestion to accept the initiative prediction and create an entry quickly.

  • Leveraging your previous entries, Laurel learns about your unique style and preferences. As you write, it intelligently proposes narrative options that resonate with you. Simply press tab to complete the sentence, or continue typing to bypass the suggestion.

  • Work Code Suggestions:

The most relevant suggestions are presented at the top of the code list for easy access. This includes your most commonly used codes, your most recently used ones, and tailored suggestions, making code selection more efficient and accurate.

  • Automatic Work Code Assignment:

Laurel automatically applies a code when it's certain of its suggestion, reducing your manual input. Over time, as Laurel learns from your choices, it will increasingly apply codes on its own.

Manual Entry Creation

  • Creating Entries:

To create an entry that wasn't captured by Laurel, click on the plus (+) button in the top header or use your Recent Projects list.

  • Timers are conveniently linked to each of your entries, allowing you to accurately track time spent on various tasks across your initiatives.

Workflow Optimization

  • Create summary templates for faster entry creation. These templates can be reused on any unreleased entry, and are easily accessible through a shortcut created by you.

  • On the left side of your Timesheet, you'll find a list of projects you've recently worked on, designed for quick creation or reassignment of entries. To keep a specific project readily accessible in this list, simply hover over it and select the star.

  • Laurel's Preferred Defaults feature allows admins to set default values for code types, automatically applying them to new entries, while users without admin rights can set defaults for specific codes like Location.

  • This feature offers three distinct styles – Merge by Block, Merge by Activity, and Merge by Session – each designed to streamline your billing process in accordance with the required standards.

  • Merging groups selected entries, combining their narratives with a semi-colon, and adjusting durations to the nearest billing increment. Unmerging allows for the separation of combined entries back into individual items, ensuring flexible and precise organization of entries.

  • Completing the same task for multiple matters? Click the duplicate button to quickly copy an entry.

  • If you've inadvertently created an entry under the wrong date, no worries – it's an easy fix. Click on the calendar icon labeled 'Change' within the entry, and move the entry to the correct day.

  • Laurel allows you to apply work codes to several entries at once. Choose the entries you wish to modify and select 'Edit Codes'. When editing entries within the same Initiative, all work codes can be updated. However, for entries spanning different Initiatives, bulk editing is limited to action and activity codes.

  • Timesheet Filters:

Enhances project accessibility and timesheet organization.

  • Search Functionality:

Quickly locate specific activities on your timesheet.

  • Remove entries from your Timesheet by selecting the entry you'd like to delete. Next, click on the button with the three dots in the top header and the 'Delete' button will appear. πŸ“ Note: this action cannot be undone, so please proceed with caution.

Submitting Time to Your Billing System

  • Select the 'Release' button in the top header. Remember, only entries with a green checkmark can be submitted, and once submitted, this action cannot be edited or undone. πŸ“ A helpful tip: Regularly submitting your time helps our Machine Learning algorithms to better auto-assign future activities, enhancing the system's efficiency with each submission.

  • Ensures entries meet your firm's specific requirements before release.

  • These states will clearly show the status of an entry, allowing you to quickly distinguish between entries that are released from Laurel but waiting to be accepted by your firm's billing system (release pending), those that have been released successfully (release success), and those that have been rejected (release failed).

Calendar & Time Totals

  • This comprehensive view allows you to easily identify any days that have unreleased time or may require your attention before a deadline. Days with any unreleased entries will be yellow, while fully released days will be green.

  • Breaks down billable, nonbillable, released, and unreleased totals for detailed analysis and billing.
