Whether collected automatically or created manually by you, Laurel gives you complete flexibility over your time. The following is a step-by-step guide on editing your time in Laurel.

Editing in Timesheet View

Timesheet is all about billing, and where we recommend most of your editing to take place. This view allows you to review your entries and include any additional details to customize your time as you see fit.

Click on an entry to edit:

From here, you can edit the following:

  • Initiative: Select an entry and click 'More' in the top header. The 'Assign' button will appear. From here, search for the Initiative you would like to reassign an entry to.

  • Duration: You can make adjustments to the duration by using the arrows or typing in a new increment.

  • Entry Description: When an entry is created from the History panel, we will automatically add the activity title as the entry summary. You can easily edit this summary to accurately describe your work.

  • Work Codes: Use the drop-downs to select the appropriate work codes by navigating through the list or by using the search bar to find codes quickly.

  • Templates: These templates can be reused on any unreleased entry, and are easily accessible through a shortcut created by you.

    Change Date:

If you've inadvertently created an entry under the wrong date, no worries – it's an easy fix. Click on the calendar icon labeled 'Change' within the entry, and move the entry to the correct day.

    Bulk Edit Work Codes:

Apply available work codes to multiple entries. Select the entries you want to edit and select 'Edit Codes'.

    • For entries for the same Initiatives, you can edit all work codes

    • For entries across Initiatives, you can only bulk edit action and activity code

    Merging Entries:

Select the entries you wish to merge. Click the ‘Merge’ button in the top header or tap ‘m’ on your keyboard. This will combine the entries together. The narratives will combine and be separated by a semi-colon, and the duration will be rounded to the nearest billing increment.

    Unmerging Entries:

Select the entry you would like to unmerge and tap 'u' on your keyboard or click the 'Unmerge' button in the top header.

Deleting activities and entries:

Deleting an activity from your Timeline or an entry from your Timesheet is quick and easy. However, this action cannot be undone, so please proceed with caution! To delete an unassigned activity, click the trashcan icon to the right of the activity description.

If an activity is already assigned to an Initiative, you'll need to select the entry you'd like to delete. Next, click on the button with the three dots in the header and the 'Delete' button will appear.

Recent Projects List:

On the left side of your Timesheet, you'll find a list of projects you've recently worked on, designed for quick creation or reassignment of entries.

To keep a specific project readily accessible in this list, simply hover over it and select the star. Additionally, you have the option to quickly start a timer for any project.

Editing in Timeline View

Timeline provides you with an accurate overview of your day as it happened, which is why we’ve limited the editing you’ll do here. Our recommendation is to use this view to familiarize yourself with your day, and ensure all captured activities are assigned to the correct Initiative.

Select an activity and click the ‘Edit Activity’ button in the bottom right-hand corner, or tap ‘E’ on your keyboard.

💡 Tip: Select similar activities quickly by clicking an activity and tapping 's' on your keyboard.

From here, you can edit the following:

  • Initiative: Search for and select the Initiative you’d like to assign this activity to. If the activity is already assigned, you can also reassign it by searching for a new Initiative. You’ll find more information on how to assign your time here.

  • Duration: Adjust the start and stop time of an activity. This is automatically gathered by Laurel, but you have the freedom to adjust the duration of your activities if needed.

  • Delete: To delete an unassigned activity, click on the trashcan icon on the right-hand side of your Timeline. You can delete an assigned entry by selecting the three dots in the bottom right-hand corner and clicking ‘Delete Activity’.

Is there anything else I should know?

📝A couple of points we want you to be aware of:

  • Once you save your edits, that action cannot be undone.

  • If you edit a duration, an asterisk will appear next to the entry increment.

  • Your time totals across both views may differ - but don’t worry, that’s on purpose. If you have made billing adjustments on Timesheet, including editing duration or merging entries, this won't be reflected on Timeline. It’s only the Timesheet total you will submit.
